I think there should be a chat box on the left side of the home page, if that is possible, so online members can talk to each other without having to create a thread or post on an existing chat thread.

As of right now, we feel that we do not want a chat box. @Tomas and I have thought about it in the past, but we feel that we would rather have users use threads to be able to show ideas or to have conversations. We also feel that once the server opens up that it really would not be necessary. Things might change. However, at this time we will not be adding a chat box to the forums. Thanks for the suggestion!
@Saphiria At the moment yes. The main reason is if someone needs to get in contact with staff they can do it on the forums. Or if players are holding conversations we are hoping they are either doing them in-game or via threads/private messaging.
